hi guys
i have a 1961 starcraft Jupiter 16ft
and im thinking about putting
a fuel tank under the front deck on the floor
and was wondering if anyone has tried
doing this before and if its worth the hassle to do
and how it worked out .
im stripping a few boats for someone
so all the parts will be free for me .
thanks

Re: Fuel tank question

It IS possible, people DO do it. The big benefits that I see are that you get a lot of floor space back and (assuming we're talking about a belly tank that sits in the center of the hull under the deck) the weight of the fuel adds stability since it gets your center of gravity lower and centered.

I wanted to do on my boat since I'm replacing the floors anyway, but can't for the life of me find exactly the right size. They're all a little bit to big in at least one dimension.

Take your measurements, look here on iBoats for new ones, watch Ebay and Craigs list for used ones. They're out there.

Check out Jasoutside's rebuild thread I think he's fit something like 60 gallons under his deck.
