I have an 89 15ft Maxum bass boat (although it has the name Quantum on the side),made by Chrysler, with a 50hp Force engine. Does anyone know the size of the fuel tank for this boat? Also the maximum tire pressure listed on the trailer tires is 50lbs, but the spare says 30lb. How much pressure should I keep in the trailer tires? Thanks, I have no paperwork for this boat.
Bill

Sounds like you have car tires on your trailer, Zaxxon. Look for ST in the size. If it isn't there get trailer tires.

Trailer tires typically say 50psi, max. Never run them below 45lb. It seriously degrades their load handling ability.

Good luck. :)

For a small boat like that, I see absolutely no problem with car tires. My ~1500lb boat has them, and I wouldn't think twice about putting them on again when these wear out. LOTS of people run car tires. No, I wouldn't put them on a 5000lb cabin cruiser, but light loads are nothing.

Lots of people do dumb things, ZmOz, some even get away with it. I have stopped on the hiway too many times to help a guy fix a flat car tire on his trailer.

It is even dumber to recommend it to others.

Zaxxon's boat is enough to require ST tires with ratings of at least 900lb.

Zaxxon, you didn't mention tire size or load rating. My guess is that you have 13" rims. If your tires on the trailer say ST and are load rated 900lb or more they are probably okay. It is your spare that is probably a car tire.

I mis-spoke above. I meant that the spare is probably a car tire.
