I have a moeller 20 gallon permament mount fuel tank that I would like to mount inside my swingback seat on my 19' cc. I would need to have the fill and vent for the tank mounted on the side of the seat.

A mechanic at our local marina has warned me that I shouldn't vent the tank inside the boat. I know I have seen many bay/flats/small cc boats with the fuel tank mounted in the console. Where are they vented? What are my options?

It seems like a bad idea to run the vent line from my tank, which has the vent about 16" above the deck, under the deck and up to my gunnel. It would create a large low spot that if any fuel got in there, it would be trapped.

Ayuh,.... Gas fumes are Heavier than air, so yer Mechanic is Right, it's Gotta be vented over the side of the boat,...
