You need a sending unit in the tank, a gauge and wire. I just replaced my tank with a plastic one that had the sending unit in it already. I bought a gauge and set it all up. It is nice having the gauge now. Most newer tanks will either have the sending unit in it or a cap on the top for one to be added. The parts are readily available and not really expensive. If you need more help ask.
