New to the forum. Looks like a great resource. I'm currently looking hard at buying a Robalo 2440 Walkaround Sportfisher (deep V hull, 5,600 lbs w/o motors) with twin 1995 225hp Merc's on it. My question is, what can I expect these motors in a twin configuration to burn at different RPM's. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Fuel Usage for 225 Merc's

You didn't say if they were carbbed or EFI engines.

Simple rule of thumb as a starting point is fuel usage at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) is horsepower/10 (in gallons per hour).

2x225s at WOT will burn about 45 gallons per hour. Work back from there for other speeds.

This is not an exact set of numbers, but the only way you'll get that is by going out with flow meters/known fuel quantities and measuring it all. And even that won't be exact because fuel usage can vary with sea conditions too.

Hope this helps.
