I just realized this last night. (my project is starting to see a light at the end!)I bought 11ft of 5/8" vent hose to go on the tank (because that is what fits it) and tried to put in on. then i find out the vent on the side of my boat has 1/2".
The only thing i can think of is a reducer from 1/2" to 5/8". Is there such a thing? I tried to search for one on the net with no luck. Ill try the stores tonight. Is brass okay for vent hose?

You should be able to find something that will work out at a good hardware store. You'll need to know how the hose connects to the vent on the boat. If it's a fitting that you slip the hose and clamp, see if it's connected to something with threads. If so, you'll be able to buy a 5/8" hose barb fitting to fit the threads. If not, you should be able to find some sort of reducer. The threaded hose barb is by far the better solution.

If you have to buy a reducing barb fitting, you'll probably need a short length of 1/2" hose as a coupler, along with the necessary clamps.

i just realized the boat guy sold me the wrong hose. i was told it is 5/8". it is labeled SIERRA "SS2000" sae J1527 (stamped 2434 2004B). I am betting it is 3/8" hose.
ill be alright when i get the right hose. because me vent will take the same size. dont know where i came up with 1/2" for my vent. so my problem is solved. i bought the wrong hose. i guess thats what happens when you work on the boat for 5 hrs after work.
