i just ordered a few fuel water separators and now my bracket is in a hard spot to see. So today I decided to check the bracket underneath where it screws in and woah. Didn’t look to good. Needs to be replaced?what problems would I incur if I didn’t realize this? Thanks

I would replace it for cause. It could be cleaned up and used but may be more work then its worth. If it wasn't caught, it could leak or just start sucking air. There is no pressure on the filter side, but it good you found it

I want to exchange the filters I have and get one with a drain? This one looked pretty cool

clear bowls can not be below deck per CG regulations.

Never seen anything like that which is why you would never see it one on my boat....

Filters should be replaced annually and they can and do need replaced at the most inopportune times. Don’t want to be stranded at the dock looking around town for a one of a kind filter media replacement.

I run outboards. Use Racor brand with the clear bowl with drain. Not the cheapest but the best performing. Replacement filters are everywhere. Can use competitors in a pinch.

The black rubber o-ring is all needed to be in good shape. But in your case, the presence of the corrosion on the underside of the separator might be a good indication the o-ring is overdue for replacement.
