Can I use a fuel / water separator with my Johnson which is a gas/oil mix? Or does the fuel water separator have to be used only with straight gas?

thanks for any info.

The answer is yes you can use the separator with premix; I called the manufacturer with question before I installed one. Have been on three trips with no problem at all. My prime bulb is before the unit but many on here say primer bulb should be after the unit. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

In agreement with Will. Hundreds of rigs that I've worked on that use premix have had the water/fuel seperators installed with no problems encountered.

If the primer bulb is before the filter it makes it a lot eaiser to fill it up before you start the mtr after you replace the new dry filter. I've seen instructions where you should fill up the new filter with fuel before reinstalling which is a pain in the a?? There are pros and cons on this.

i prefer tank, filter, bulb, motor. that way you do not force anything thru the filter. filter should be mounted in splash well, so no fuel gets spilled into the boat.
