Hi everyone. My boat/engine has approx 20 hours on it and I wanted to change the fuel / water separator, however, it appears that it's more challenging then I originally thought it would be.

Is there a special tool to get this separator off? It appears to be on there VERY tight.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Tim

Hey, Blown - I'm in Middle River. Bay water dirty enough for you? I use one of the filter wrenches that fits over the end - not a strap-type. That seems to break it free pretty easy. Filter has a rubber gasket just like an oil filter. If that got stuck to the housing it would take some force to loosen it. Clean off any old gasket with some carb cleaner. Make sure to lube it up when putting the new one on & don't over crank it - just need to squeeze the rubber gasket a bit.
