i have a 87 wellcraft with a mercruiser 4 cyl in it and a sterndrive engineering out drive, boat runs great, i bought it a few weeks back and put some work into it and got it running good. the boat did sit for a full year, so i pumped all the gas out and put new gas in with some fuel treatment. now im thinking i should install a water separator. i bought an attwood kit, thinkin bout putting it on in the mornin, anybody used these or heard anything bad about the attwood filters? dont want to cause any problems now that i got it running good

Re: fuel water separator

Attwood is fine- they make all sorts of marine products. However, you probably had a water seperating fuel filter already installed- check the current filter.

Racor also makes very good filter kits. For any kit that has a bowl that can be drained, remember to follow the CG rules- plastic bowls only for open mounting (like an outboard), metal bowls for enclosed engine compartments.

There are a number of kits that just replace the existing fuel filter, so you should not have to mess with hoses and fittings.
