welcome aboard

my guess this is a new to you boat

your pinto based OMC motor is not a 2-stroke, so there is no oil needed to be pre-mixed

the dwell angle is 32 degrees +/-2. that would be about a 0.018 point gap. however use a dwell meter.

timing is then set to 10 degrees BTDC

how is the stringers, transom and floor?

What’s a good but not expensive electronic ignition besides the points. I want to do away with points.

there isnt.

the pertronix kits have issues. I have had 100% failure rate with pertronix

points will last you 15 years or longer than the exhaust manifold on the motor, you just have a bit of maintenance of re-filing them after they sit over winter and re-setting the dwell.

dont be afraid of points, they have been around for over 160 years and are as robust today as they were then.
