Fule Pump Rebuild 1998 200hp Johnson

Hi,

I have a Mercury 175 on which I recently rebuilt the fuel pump. When talking with a buddy (who has a 1998 200HP Johnson) we were discussing my recent rebuild and got to wondering if the Johnson fuel pump was similar design and one that called for occasional rebuild of the pump (on my Mercury, the fuel pump consists of a couple of diaphragms, check valves, and gaskets --- an easy and straight forward rebuild).

Does the 200HP (1998) have a similar fuel pump and is it something that he should considering rebuilding? (If it is something to consider doing, is a rebuild kit "easily" available?)

Jeff, The fuel pump on the Johnny is an Oil Metering System (OMS) pump. It mixes gas and oil precisely. There are some rebuild parts for the gas side of the pump.

The fuel pump on your Merc is real simple in comparison.
