Last night I really screwed up. I put the boat in without the plug! Luckily I remember before I drove the truck up the ramp to park. Nevertheless, it was a race against the clock. I eventually won but the boat was draining like and the bildge pump was running like Hoover **** . Anyway, I put the boat in the thing fired up just fine. I did notice that I had a more difficult time getting the boat to plane out. I was wondering if the water could have had something to do with it. The boat was emptied prior to gunning it so I'm pretty sure that was okay. I was carrying a 3rd person weighing 240 lbs. Maybe thats why. Any thoughts? There was a pretty big chop that I was working through too.

89 Ranger, 89 175 HP Johnson.

One more thing... what is a spun prop?

Thank you for your knowledge

Jason :)

The engine idled fine... Just seemed to get stuck with the nose straight up when I floored the Hot Foot. Like I was missing a gear or something.

Hey,J.No expert here but do know a little about spun props.Your prop is actually 2 pieces,a center hub and the outer actual prop.THey are held tight with a rubber packing.A spun prop is when the packing seperates from the prop usually do to underwater collision. This way the shock from a collision is somewhat minimized from the prop shaft,l.u. and motor.

How do I dry out the boat? I know all the water is drainged but I think your talking about something else. Do I only need to let the boat set out for a day or so? I just want to make sure that I'm not totally scr**** here with taking on water.

Jason

Re: full power

i wouldnt worry about it, that extra 240lb'er had alot to do with it. you can lift the tongue of the trailer (block it up) and let it sit like that for a day to get all the water out. enjoy the rest of the season, and dont forget the plug! :D
