does anyone have any documentation on how to (dis)assemble a fulton bearing protector / "bearing life protector" bearing saver/"bearing buddy" properly?
I was checking them out today and I think mine were assembled improperly. I removed the snap ring, and then the large spring; and I found that there was an O-ring that the large spring was pressing on. however, being that the spring is not perfectly shaped (it doesn't have ground flat ends, etc.) the o-ring is really not sealing anything and in fact had squished out a gap in the spring.
I took it apart the rest of the way, which involved removing the O-ring, a plastic disc, and then the metal disc that the zerk is in.
I looked at everything, and it seemed to make MUCH more sense to put the metal disc (w/ zerk) in first, then the O-ring (the metal disc in fact has a ridge on it's edge that the O-ring fits perfectly), and then the plastic disc (which in turn has a ridge that fits the spring perfectly), then the spring and snap ring.
Seeking input to see if I did good or bad!
