Bought a boat cheaply and after running it on the muffs, I realized it needed either a gimbal bearing or ujoints or both.
I ended up replacing the gimbal bearing, all 3 bellows, the shift cable, and water impeller (kit). Didn't have to purchase any special tools, just had to rent the slide hammer to pull the gimbal bearing. Didn't need the bellows expander, special socket for the shift cable, or alignment tool.
The bellows expander is a waste of money. Its easy to just use a long screwdriver and your hand (longest finger), to stretch the exhaust bellows on to the housing. Already had an extra long socket to remove the old shift cable as well, and when reinstalling the outdrive, it went on easily first try.
Took it out last night and had a blast on it. Its an 89 regal 185 medallion.
