Fun project or stay away?

I've been looking for a small glass V hull runabout for some river fishing and to venture into the bay a bit, I want something that I can tow easily behind a car, something I can take with me on vacation here and there without needing a heavy tow vehicle. I've got the perfect trailer and a Mercury 45hp with controls that runs great, and a set of new pedestal seats.
I found this listed today on CL:

It seems like it may be the perfect match for the motor and trailer I have?

I'd say go for it. I think Mark has one like it, but it's been almost 2 yrs since I've been on here....

Worst that can happen is you're out $400, but it looks like it would be fun.

if you are willing to put in some work, you can probably find a free hull... thats not a bad boat for $400, but its borderline to me. glass hulls are a dime a dozen. if you keep looking you will find one for free, maybe even water ready...

If it's in decent shape, I'd say go for it. I would imagine you could negotiate since few people would have the trailer, outboard and controls laying around as you do. Offer him a couple hundred and see what happens. All he can do is counter offer. Even at $400, I wouldn't say it's too bad. Good luck and post back when she's on the water!

Yep, I have one. If no one has "worked" on it, then the floors are solid fiberglass, same with the stringers. Transom is still wood, so check it for rot.

Its a great little boat. Jumps on plane fast because its a shallow V, runs fast and handles like a sports car and is fairly cheap on fuel. But the shallow V does not cut big waves well, so if you get stuck in 2 ft waves, you are in for a pounding.

No motor, no trailer. For $400 I'd jump on it!!!
