The section of the lower unit that houses the thrust washers and flat bearing is chewed up from a previously failed flat bearing.
Since the needle bearing and the pinion bearing both serve to center the pinion gear, wouldn't that also center the washers and flat bearing away from the housing walls anyway?
This is pretty far from the title of the last post so I though I should start a new thread.
