Fuse Size

I recently purchased a 2004 Fisher 170 Sport Hawk, and I am not confident that the right size fuses are being used in the fuse block. I have contacted Tracker but can only get the color scheme of the wires. My question is where can I find the recommended fuze sizes for the different accessories going into the fuze block.

List what you have but here are some approximations. The boat manufacturer didn't manufacture the accessories so you need to list the manufacturer of the accessory and contact them if the current draw is not listed on the device.

Bilge and livewell Pump (7.5 - 10 amps)
Nav Lights 5 - 7.5 amps)
Radio (look in the book but 5 amps would be fine)

NEVER install a fuse with a current rating higher than the current carrying capacity of the wire or the wire will burn up before the fuse blows.

One other question if I may ... is the Trolling Motor directly wired to the battery or is it thru the fuze block also?

Your trolling motor draws way too much power to go through the fuse panel so NO -- don't do that. The trolling motor gets wired directly to the trolling motor deep cycle battery. DO NOT wire it to the starting battery unless you like to row back to shore. Trolling motors can kill a starting battery very quickly leaving you unable to start the motor. And don't even think about trying to charge the troller battery from the engine. Most smaller engines don't have alternators with enough capacity to do that (unless you have an I/O or a big outboard). The positive wire from the battery should have a circuit breaker within a foot of the positive terminal on the battery. How big the circuit breaker needs to be depends on the size of the troller. 30 - 40# thrust needs a 50 amp. Over that needs a 60.

It is already wired but wasn't sure if it went through the fuse block or not. When I picked up the boat the trolling motor wasn't there, I got looking on Craigslist and got a screaming deal on a Minn Kota Powerdrive 80PD/AP/US (24 volt system). I do remember when I first looked at where the trolling batteries go that there was a fuse type device right on the wire end just before where I connect the battery.
