Recently had a problem where my motor would start and run fine....but once warmed up and under load, it would randomly quit running, typically at higher rpms and it was like you turned the key off. No jerking or sputtering....just completely shut down. But would start right up and run fine.....until it did it again. Replaced the old kill switch...same result.
My factory manual had instructions for doing a static test on the preamp.....and it worked perfectly. However, there was a paragraph about the preamp passing the static test but failing when warmed up/under load. The book said the only way to test for this condition was to install a known working unit and try it. So I got a NOS preamp, installed it, and no more problems. So, if you have an old Chrysler with the electronic distributor, you might keep this in mind if you encounter a similar problem....(y)
