hey buddy, dropped lower unit, brand new lower unit i might add, spacer housing (tube) from lower unit to center housing is missing..... this would seal the chamber and force the exhaust out the prop. tube is probably in someone's garage still on the original unit........ hahaha....... gonna be about 20 bucks to fix. thnxs for the help, really appreciate it, 79 johnson 35 el.

what tube are you refering to? the exhaust tube on that 35 bolts to the power head and is set in place when the powerhead is installed. there is however a tube on the drive shaft. goes between the water pump housing and the midsection on some models.

yes, that is the tube i'm referring to. without this tube in place, exhaust will follow the shaft upward and exit thru the holes in the front of the midsection. concern i had was the noise and the heat on the lower bearing of the pivot. not a big deal to fix, and should be alot quieter once it's done.
