I've been fishing many years but have never owned a boat of my own.
I know about the "two happiest days" in a boat owner's life, and I'm closing in on the first one.
I've looked for a while at used boats but my initial thought of 3-4 grand turned
up little. After some soul searching (and a little extra money from a side job)
I'm leaning towards a brand-spanking-new one. I'm not interested in skiing,
but my youngin's might want to take it out, therefore I want realibility and the
ability to pull a skier if the mood strikes them. I really liked the bass tracker with the live baitwells, but while out looking around I discovered the G3 boats.
Apparently, Yamaha owns G3 so they come equiped with the Yamaha power
plants. I'm leaning toward the 60hp 4-stroke. I dug through past postings
and haven't seen any discussion on these boats.

Anybody have any comments? Suggestions?

They price out just under the tracker similarly equipped.

Also, what about Aluminum vs fiberglass? I only plan on taking out on fresh water lakes in calm
weather.

Re: G3 (looks good to me)

Yea cb, to me it's a much better "looking" boat. The Tracker has a flat bottom hull while the G3 has what the dealer called a "stepped hull?" According to him, the G3 would get up on the water and plain out better than a flat bottom and provide a smoother ride (and faster). The G3 has a painted hull, but less storage and no cup holders :(

Trouble is finding a 4-strk power plant... (60 day wait)
