Gage light wiring help needed

My newly acquired proline 20 has a gage panel with about 5 gages all working. The problem is they are wired so that when the battery selector switch is turned to on, the lights all come on all of the gages(only the light, not the gage itself and even with the ignition off) The back of the gage panel looks like spaghetti to me, and I want to figure out how to wire so the light comes on with the running light switch because it is constantly running down the battery when the engine is off if the selector switch isnt turned to off.

If anyone can offer some help I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Right at the very top of this forum is a post that reads "Generic Boat Wiring by Silvertip". That diagram shows gauge wiring. The color codes on that digram may not agree with your boat. All you need to do is find the bulb that lights just one of the gauges. That wire will lead to the next gauge, and the next. Normally the first gauge in the string will be at the right side of the panel. Disconnect that wire at its source and connect it to the light switch.

Yea thats cool if the gauges would come on with the nav lights.

My new 07 bayliner 185 and my 93 2755 cruser both light the gauges when the key is in the run posiiton. You dont need lights when the motor is running during the day!
