Unfortunately my boat is equipped with the VDO gauge cluster that is so commonly known to fail and, of course, it is starting to fail...my speedo quit, oil pressure is getting very intermittent, ammeter doesnt work, and fuel gauge only works when idling. so anyways i understand i need to do something and my thought is to put a piece of plastic in and put in all new separate gauges. First of all are the gauges on I boats good? because they are extremely cheap compared to everywhere i've looked. Secondly has anyone else done this? is the wiring straightforward? i am an electrician so i think i can figure it out but any tips would be greatly appreciated

Re: gages

there is some very good generic wiring diagrams in the electrical section

I just replace all my gauges - just because my wife didn't know I really didn't need them :p
