I have a '78 whaler with a closed bow. I bought the boat about 2 years ago and have been working out kniks with the wiring, engine, etc. and it's running great. Now I'd like to repaint the top side, but there's one thing holding me up. The bow cover is failing.

Before I had the boat the owner let it sit outside and uncovered. There are two teak strips that run down the bow for style, and at some point were torn out. The holes that were letf allow water to leak into the wood core that exists between the glass ceiling inside the 'galley', and the top side of the glass that you can walk on. Unfortunately, when you walk on the bow it's soft, and the ceiling in the galley is cracking and failing. I need tear out the ceiling and wood core and resupport the cover. I'm racking my mind for a good way to accomplish this, but I'm stuck. Can anyone recommend something? Maybe just a few layers of glass? I'm not sure.

Thanks for the help.
