I have spent several hours this afternoon trying to educate myself on the best product to use on stainless threads going into aluminum.
What I have found is that zinc based products are highly recommended, unless you like orange, in which case copper based products are just the thing. For a dollar, you can use nickel, and in a pinch you can use vaseline.
Several googled friends swear by KY jelly, and though I had to promise not to tell, KY Yours and Mine was described in reverent tones as the best thing that ever happened to his dissimilar metals.
So, since authoritative information on the subject is so easily obtained, (authorities on the subject being found everywhere) I have decided that anything will work, and someone out there will swear that it is the best thing they have ever used.
Ever use peanut butter? If you can smell it at wot, your engine is running hot. (It doubles as a temp alarm!) But is great for attracting fish....
Seriously, I really did read like thirty threads today on the subject, which left me more confused than ever. So at the risk of muddying the waters even further, please help me get it right. My family is concerned about the KY jelly in the shop....
