I am having some trouble with my gamefisher outboard motor, and I am wondering where I can find parts for this motor model# 217.586361

The motor runs ok but keeps overheating. It doesn't appear that the water is ciculating.
I checked the impellar and it seem to be pumping water when I disconnected it and put it in a bucket of water. So I am thinking that i might have a bad thermostat or cyclinder cover gasket.

Does anyone have any ideas?

What year is the motor? I have one made in 1991, and at that time the engines were made by Force. If this is so for you, parts are available through Mercury, marketed I believe under Quicksilver. I hope this helps.

The motor was purchased in 1986. It was sold by Sears. I will check out the lead you gave to me.

Your motor isn't a Force (which was acquired by Mercury in 1990 BTW), I believe it was made by Eska. From memory, Sears didn't start selling rebadged Force outboards until 1987 or 1988.

You can still get parts through Sears at http://www3.sears.com and searching by your model #.

Sears Parts has listings for parts. Don't know how many of the listed ones they actually have in Stock or if they list what you need. At the web site, just type in the model number and you can see what they have.
