Hi, I just recently purhcased a 15 hp ,1996 model gamefisher. model # 225.581508 ser# oe142057. The motor cranks and runs fine , but the head gets hot to touch.. The impeller looks great and as soon as the engine cranks the thermostat port on the back starts flowing water. Is that supposed to start immediately? How can i verify water is actually circulating through the cylinder walls and how hot can the head get normally? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated..thanks

Water will "spit" out the two exhaust relief ports on the leg above the waterline usually within a few seconds after starting. Dunno about your "hot to touch"..is there a discoloration of the paint? Check the post I did earlier on "Force/Gamefisher thermostat.."
