This is my first time posting on this site. I've been browsing various threads for a couple days in search of the information I need.

I have a gamefisher 5.0 model 217-585510, serial 28-200625. My research leads me to believe it's it's a 1982 Tecumseh engine, sold by Sears Roebuck

I need to purchase a new carburetor for it, but I'm having trouble figuring out what the part number would be. The only visible lettering I can find would be on the float bowl which says Lauson Power Products. Though it's not too clear, it might also say Grafton Wis or something similar? 5F also show elsewhere on it.

Can anybody help me out with with this? Thank you kindly!

Its an 82 and why do you need to replace the carb? Its a Tecumseh power head just like a lawn mower. Look on ebay for a carb but I would soak it and blow it out put a kit in it.

It's been hasn't been used for atleast 5 years, if not longer. Everything is very '"ripe" and rusty, and things are falling apart. Can't get it to run, so I checked for spark and there was none. I replaced the condensor and points, and got spark back, however it's still refusing start. Wanted to take apart the carb to clean it, but ended up snapping a bolt off. I can't find the correct carb. Everything is listed as not available. Mine has a fuel element, and anything I can find doesn't have one. i'm wondering if it will work using a carb that doesn't have an fuel element? I'm planning to run it off of the integrated tank on top, and not an external one.

every kit has an element in it. I would soak it in parts cleaner and put a new kit in it for 12 bucks. Make sure to install an in-line fuel filter b4 the carb fo you can see if fuel is moving and to stop garbage from entering the carb. Your next option is to re-build the card in pieces keeping the original carb and you dont want to do that. Tecumseh sells carbs but Ive yet to find an exact match. You can try and look for good used one but that could take alot of time waiting for one to show up.

Thank you! I ordered the same one you posted on Sunday evening, and received it today. I'm kind of skeptical, but we'll see. It's not a big loss if it doesn't work. I will post the results as soon as I get it installed.

I installed the card I ordered on Ebay, and it still didn't start. I was skeptical about that carb, so I ended up finding a used carb from a 5hp Eska! I was sure it would work after installing that one, but still not working! I've got good fuel and good spark, so decided the check compression. It's reading at 50 psi. It feels like I have good compression when I crank it, but I'm wondering if 50 psi is too low? Does anybody know what compression reading I should be getting on this motor?

50 aint good. Check head gasket. Thats the first thing I check before I buy a motor is compression.

Thanks for responding....it was given to me so no investement there atleast. Any idea what proper compression should be? I'm thinking 90PSI? Head gasket and piston rings are the next suspects

Ive ran them on 70 but 90-100 is ideal for a used motor
Pulled it apart today and it's a blown head gasket.
It didn't even cross my mind to check that in the very beginning, as I knew I had a definate carb issue, so I was sure it was only that. Also, when cranking it seemed to have good compression to me. Pistons and rings are fine. I just ordered the new head gasket today

your golden now. You will have a great motor for little to no money. Love it when it works out like that.

No such luck, it's still got low compression. Thinking now cracked cylinder or bad piston rings? I dunno, I gave up for the time being, due to lack of time.
Plus I also have an issue that is more pressing with my 4.3l inboard
