I need some information on a 9.9 hp GameFisher model # 225.581996.

Is the model year imbedded in the model # ?
How much does this motor weigh ?
Who manufactured these motors for Sears ?
Are parts redily available ?
Are these motors reliable, fuel efficient, powerful ?

Any general information is appreciated.

Thanks....

Re: Gamefisher 9.9 HP

Hi,

That's a 1996 model, made by Force and sold by sears under their own brand name. Unlike a lot of these off-brand motors, you should have good luck getting parts, etc., since it's a Force.

You can find some parts at www3.sears.com. Enter your model number, using a period between the first three numbers and the rest of the numbers.

That will take you to a parts breakdown page, with diagrams and parts lists. Sears will have quite a few of the parts available. The rest you'll have to get from a Mercury dealer.

Fuel:Oil ratio is 50:1 on that outboard.

Sorry. That's a 1994 model. My error.

It should be a good-performing engine and may be a bargain, compared to a Mercury or Force labeled model of the same horsepower. You'll probably find a similar cost difference, too, against the other big-name brands.

In the case of the Gamefisher outboards sold by Sears in the 90's, they can be a very good deal.

The older ones, however, made by folks like Eska and the like are not such a good bargain, since parts can be hard to come by.

You can ask tech questions about that motor in the Mercury/Force troubleshooting forum.
