Spark test , 3 options
1)Take spark plug out and attach it back to the spark wire. Hold it close to metal and pull the cord it should arc a spark.
2)Get a inline spark tester, I would just get this tool and do it this way. It's nice to have these in your tool box anyway.
3) Either spray pre-mixed fuel into the open mouth of the carberator or take spark plug out and spary pre mix in. Then put plug back in and crank it to see if it fires.
Like I said I would just get the spark test tool anyway, its nice to have for other jobs.
