Hello everyone, long time reader, but first time poster, and unfortunately it's another gamefisher for y'all to help with. I have a gamefisher 7.5 hp (mod# 217-586754) that I picked up last summer and have finally gotten around to working on. I have read on here just about everything I can find related to this motor before I made this post. So far I have cleaned the carb completely, installed a rebuild kit (new gaskets, seat, needle, clip, screen, flapper and pump), ran fresh non ethanol gas through it (with some quicksilver cleaner), checked impeller, checked spark.

With that being said, here is my problem, I have to start it in the shift zone for consistent start. If I start it in the start position, sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesnt. When it is running, in the shift zone position on the throttle, it idles, albeit a little high rpm imo, but not WOT. I can let it run at this idle until the tan runs out. However, if I start twisting the throttle and get to the start zone, it will eventually die. If I try going from the shift zone to actually putting it in gear, as in accelerating, it dies out as well. So basically, any form of acceleration from the twist throttle causes it to die.

Now get this, if I reach in with my finger on the throttle on the carb, I can move it all the way to wide open and it runs fine. It's just when I try to accelerate from the grip.

Also, side note of 3 things.
1) what is the correct spark plug for this motor? it currently has a Briggs 796112 in it and I have a feeling thats the wrong plug.
2) does anyone have a manual for this motor?
3) there was an empty screw hole for an idle adjustment screw, it works without it, but do I need it? I have seen other posts where people said they didnt have one either.

Thank anyone for their help. I will try to take a video of my issue when I get the time. Off to work now, later everyone
