My old fish / depth finder died so I bought a new Garman 204 Blue unit. The old tranducer (200 watts) was mounted inside the hull and worked fine. The new Garman unit (500 watts) will not give me a reading after mounting in the exact same spot the old one came out of. The area was cleaned, sanded and installed with epoxy. I dropped the transducer overboard prior to mounting and it gave me a good reading. My boat is a 1991 SeaRay 27 Sundancer. Any suggestions or explanations as to why the old 200 watt transducer shot through the hull and the new 500 watt one won't?<br />Thanks

Re: Garman 240 Blue Transducer

I couldn't imagine why unless in the process of fitting it after testing it you have inadvertently damaged the cable. Can you still hear it clicking when it is switched on. Can you remove it and test it over the side again. My thoughts is that something has failed in the connection between the transducer and the unit.
