garmin 300c and 400c

I recently won a Garmin 300c fishfinder in a local tournament.They say it`s for the anglers who fish mostly freshwaters and I fish mostly salt waters .What makes the difference and will it be any good for bay fishing?Thank you!

Edit: Sorry the info below is for the Oregon 300 and 400 handheld and will make no since for the fixed mount fishfinder that you were talking about.

What makes the difference is the maps loaded on the unit. You can use it but but may want to get difference maps if you want more water details like depth.
I would rather not have a touch screen model on salt water but that is just me. In salt water seem to me my hands usually get a lot of fish on them. Yes I wipe hands after every fish to help keep the poles and steering wheel clean but still I would not call them clean until I finish cleaning the fish and have washed in hot water.

However you got a great price. See if they will let you trade for the model you want and pay the difference.
