Don't do any fishing but would like a single SD card that can show me depth charts for Upper Chesapeake and Lake George NY. Boat came with Worldmaps installed which don't seem to have any resolution.

Bluechart? LakeVu? Anyone know which to buy?

Blue charts cover both location. Excellent coverage is the chesapeake. Don't know lake George well enough to comment on the details.

lakeVu doesn't cover the Chesapeake

Thanks, Dingbat. VUS511L cut off at Albany, so does not do both. How is resolution of this map: HXUS039R

You must be looking at an area map. My map covers the entire World but unfortunately it's appears it's not available for your unit. If HXUS039R is like my map, you'll be fine

Resolution isn't the issue. I keep my detail setting in the middle. Far too much information on the screen otherwise.

Thanks, last question: why do they even offer area maps when you can get larger ones?

My 720S unit came pre-loaded with "worldmaps" but there are no depth charts, just fuzzy approximations of land and water. My 440S had coastal maps pre-loaded and had all the info I needed, at least trying to get back to that scenario.

If it's like my 741XS, it has the LakeVu charts already loaded. If memory serves, you choose navigation charts then hit menu and pick from either ocean charts or LakeVu.
