Garmin 80/90 opinions?

I'm thinking of buying a Garmin 80 (discontinued) or 90 (current model) for my boat. I really don't do a whole lot of fishing and I wanted something cheap to measure water depth and temp. Any opinions appreciated.

Garmin is good stuff. First choice for GPS, but. . . .

For sonar I think you get more for your money with Lowrance or Eagle. I use an Eagle Cuda 168, but the Cuda 128 is also a good unit, just less resolution.

I agree with JB. Fishing water up to 100 feet go with Eagle or Lowrance.

I didn't buy the Garmin because of the huge connector. I wasn't going to punch a half-dollar size hole in my new transom. I went with a Humminbird and their free inside the boat puck transducer exchange--a great deal that works great--no hole in the transom.

I just bought the new CUDA 242 which I think is going to end up replacing the 168. I compared side by side and IMO, the CUDA was an easier read and less $$ than the GARMIN.

Now, if I can only get a chance to use it!
