I am new to you forum and being from across the pond would like to complement you. It is superb, I wish we had the same in England.

I have a Garmin fishfinder with the moulded on grey type connectors. The cable insulation has split where it enters the connector and the braid sheating has corroded. Does anyone know the maker of a compatable rewirable connector?

I can only get the complete transducer assembly in England and it costs more than a new fishfinder.

Hi, Chrisp.

If the operation of your sonar has not been affected, paint the offending area with liquid electrical tape.

Good luck. :)

Re: Garmin connectors

Thanks for the reply JB, great idea but the corrosion has gone inside the connector and eaten the braid. The display is dead but does work on a friend's boat with same transducer. I think the only repair is to rewire a new connector.

Hi Chrisp,
Try doing a search at the top of this page. Enter Transducer or Fishfinder in the search field. You should see many comments and one may pertain to your situation.

Chrisp, which model do you have, I see on Garmin web site the connector is only $ 29.00
These have a black color, not gray.

RECKDB1BOAT
I have tried the search but no answer to my problem in the posts

VALV
It is one of the old Garmin which pre date the black connector and is no longer listed, hence the problem. I dont want to have to bin it as it is like an old pair of shoes, well worn but very comfortable.
