Garmin data transfer

I recently purchased a new Garmin 4208 and I want to pull the saved waypoints from my old Garmin 545s. Both units have SD card slots. Is there a way to save the date on the card and simply upload it to the new machine? If so, will any SD card work or is there a specific Garmin SD card needed?

Hey Slow Ride,
My 398 lets you save way points to a compatible sd card if you go to menu and check off way points. Garmin tech support is very good call them.

You can transfer WP from one unit to the next via SD card. No special SD card is required. I use the one out of my camera.
I would also suggest you get a SD card R/W device as well. You’ll need it to transfer any updates from the computer to the 4208. I purchased mine from Amazon for less than $10.
