Garmin GPS 440s Combo ?

This combo unit came on the used boat which I bought.

I would like to be able to power up the unit at home to learn about the gps features etc.

The rear of the unit only has one plug which seems to be a multi function.

Is there an adapter I could buy which uses the same plug with houshold current or through a cigarette lighter plug step down voltage.

Other wise I guess I'll have to learn about and practice usage while on the boat.

Thanks in advance for the help

Check with Garmin.

They offer an in-home power adapter cable and a +12V adapter cable for most units.

You might also check out their Mapsource and Blue Chart products to get finer detail to selected maps.

Oh, and an Operator's Manual is essential.

Alternatively, you could remove the power cord from the boat, and connect it to a 12V power source. The transducer should unplug from the power cord and can stay in the boat.. You could probably use a 12VDC transformer from a toy or a battery charger as a power source.
