Garmin Gps 60 Handheld map.

I have just purchased the Garmin 60 handheld, whilst I understand the basic operation I don't understand fully about the map feature? does it actually have a map installed or does one only see what you create, ie; from one point to another, I have tried zooming in out but fail to see a map, wonder if anyone is familiar with this unit, I purchased the Marine Pack. lurcher. It could be that the area where you live is not part of the installed software. Did you try zooming way out to see if it shows anything? If you purchased the "marine pack" and installed your local area, you should be able to see something in all zoom levels. Not sure how Garmin determines what map areas to pre load on their units. Here in the states for instance, they usually only come with the U.S. installed on them. Did you get your unit locally? Good luck.

i have a garmin legend etrex hand held. if you can figure out the one you have let me know maybe you can give me some tips on mine cause i cant figure mine out. i guess i'm not smart enough not very electronics smart.my understanding is you have to buy street map to download to have all the streets.it just comes with major streets.

Thanks Drowned Rat and Racer 15 for information, I have found out this version on Garmin does what I thought ie;, It will tell you where you are , Position, Lat and Long,go to you waypoints which you must enter and track back etc, but there are no Charts! and none can be put in? The Marine version which this is comes with software which will show Basic Cartography, interstates, motorways,oceans (some Cardinal markers)and various other reference detail. I spoke to Garmin U.K. who confirmed above,to get Garmin handheld with charts is another £150 making mapping one nearly £400, again after purchase of chart version the software charts are £150 for 10.far to expensive.
