Hi:

I have a Garmin GPS MAP 180 which is showing a message of Low Memory Battery. I've contacted Garmin, and they say is $150.00 to work on it, plus according to them no one else can replace the battery. Has anyone had this experience before? Could I just open the dam thing and replace the battery myself? Or do I really have to DO AS THEY SAY...

Thanks!

Re: Garmin GPS MAP 180

Getting them to replace your DRAM battery is a lot cheaper than a new unit, Azizi.

It is not just a matter of pulling a few screws to get it apart, or putting them back after the new battery is in place. You will probably end up with a whole new waterproof case.

If the 180 suits your needs, a new battery is the way to go.

Good luck. :)
