My GPSMAP 430 is having a weird problem. It frequently won't start up until the boat is underway. It will act like its dead and won't turn on, even after i crank the motor, but then after a few minutes underway it all of a sudden works. What could possibly be the problem? I have two new trolling batteries in my boat that power everything. GPS is really the only electronics I use.

Re: Garmin GPSMAP 430 weird shorting problem

Might be a voltage sensitivity problem in the Garmin, though I never had any problem like that except with H'bird Sonars..

Put a good digital voltmeter on the location that the Garmin gets +12v from and note even the slightest differences between when the GPS runs and when it doesn't.

Let us know, and good luck. :)
