Re: gas and oil mixture

50:1 has been the norm for years unless you have a VRO pump which varies the ratio as a function of engine rpm.

On a '95 you shouldn't have to mix, seems to me. Merc has had oil and gas separate for 2 strokers since '89 that I know of. My son had a '95 150 and it had an oil reservoir. You should have an oil reservoir containing the 2 cycle TCW-3 oil and you just put gasoline in the fuel tank. The engines oil pump does the mixing.

Assuming tha oil injection has been disabled. 40 or 50 ta 1. on any production Merc/Mariner V6. Your choice. Pennsoil syn. blend is very good stuff for a steel sleeve motor plus not way over priced................

Mark, It was 84/85 for tha oil injection....

How do you know if the oil to gas ratio is right

If you mix it yourself is the oil injection disconected as you are now doubling oiling...On all of our v6 motors Merc makes a plug that goes in place of the oil pump..this is important to keep the gear on the crank from falling into the motor...We never use the oil injection systems not because they are bad but why take a chance. If you have oil in the tank you will never burn a motor up...If you lose a hose or any part of the oil injection system becomes bad there goes the motor...all of the race motors are mixed at 40 to one given the higher rpm's they see.. Lastly, do not use full syn in a steel bore motor..Duke Dog says it above...Use the Penn Synth blend at Walmart..Best deal going...I would never have thought I would recommend Penn however they don't make it and a lot of the fast guys use this or the full syn myself included in chrome bore engines that require a full synth oil....
