I am not sure this is the right forum, but I can not really find a better one.

I came home today to find fuel dried up on the swim platform. Closer inspection showed dried (gummy) fuel on the vent hole.

It has been sitting there 24 hours and it was NOT there when I parked it last night.

The tank is fairly full...and bow is up a good bit (like I always leave it).

It has been 105 degrees here as well.

Can ANYONE explain this to me? It's freaking me out.

boat/engine info is in my signature.

expansion in the fuel tank made the fuel force out the vent line

The gas in the tank has blocked the vent hose & forced it out the vent. Happens when they sit in the sun. Some tanks have vents in front & back. Doesn't sound like you do. Keep it bow down if you must leave it almost full!

So nothing to worry about? Freaked me out...and a little got on the back where the name of the boat is and peeled the vinyl sticker up a bit.

Howdy,

Yes, you probably have it a bit over full and it's just "burping" out a little gas through the vent. I would suggest that you don't fill it that full if you're going to let it sit in the sun for any length of time. Someone walks by and lights a cigarette.........BOOM!

Here's something to do in your spare time, get out the scissors & an old plastic cup/container/whatever and make up a little catch can.
Good for refueling too when the breather decides to burp on you.
