Hello

I was just trying to remove the pressurized fuel tank assembly from my old double line gas tank (for a 56 Johnson 5.5-hp). There are 8 screws holding the assembly on to the top of the tank; I was only able to remove 7. One of the screws will not budge. Unfortunately, I damaged some of the screw top when trying to unscrew it, making it really hard to unscrew now. :( I tried spraying on some multi-purpose lubricant, but still to no avail. Any ideas for how to remove this screw?

Thanks in advance.

Re: gas can screws

Hey T....

If you have access to a Dremel Tool, you could cut in a new slot or just grind the head off. That would at least get the assembly off and part of the screw exposed to get hold of. You could also drill out the screw, hard to do but can work. I would go with trying to at least get the head ground off and go from there. Stuck screw and busted off bolts are never any fun.
