Gas dripping out of lower carb

I have a 1985 Mercury 50 hp 4 cyl. Runs OK but it seems to use a lot of gas. I noticed a puddle on the driveway under the motor when I walked by the boat earlier today. Gas was dripping from the lower carb at a rate of about 1 to 2 drops per second. It is about 75 degrees F and the boat is sitting in the sun. The gas line to the plastic gas tank is connected. The motor is tilted forward but only about 5 to 10 degrees more than running position. Does this drip indicate a problem with the carb?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Any time a engine is tilted it stands a good chance of a carb dripping either disconnect the fuel hose or store in a level position, if it leaks when level the carb need attention.

as laddies said when its tilted its gonna drip but with the fuel line attached in the sun,and especially if the vent on the tank is closed, pressure builds up and it has to go somewhere.try disconectiing the line and see if the same happens.....good luck
