Yes. turn ignition on, disconnect the sender wire , touch it to a good ground (the ground wire screw). The gauge should peg out to full. If it does, your sender is faulty. If it doesn't, the sender wire, ground wire or gauge is faulty.<br /><br />VDO make a whole range of senders to suit different size holes and different depth tanks, some senders are even depth adjustable. The sender will have an 'OHM' range - this HAS to match the gauge. Some OHM ranges are backwards, look on the back of your gauge, it should be printed there.<br /><br />For instance, you may find '10 - 180 OHM'.<br />Or you may find '240 - 33 OHM'.<br /><br />The gauge and sender need to match exactly.
