gas in oil

im getting gas in my oil, boat was fine during season but has been setting for about 3 months could it be the fuel pump

What are you working on? More than likely diaphram in fuel pump is toast. But , carb could be culprit too. Have you run the motor , or did you find the fuel in the oil before you fired it up?

Difficult to say without knowing what kind of engine, drive, model/serial numbers efi/carb and whether it's a -200, -400 or a Nextgen!

im sorry new to this forum stuff. I have a 96 sea ray 4 cyl. carb. 3.0lx started smelling gas odor coming from the engine compartment during season. was going to fire it up but found engine oil level above full mark.

The fuel pump is the most probable cause. Replace it, change the oil and keep a close eye on the oil level during use.

Remember, you cannot/should not use an automotive pump.

Great point DJ! Fumes and closed in spaces don't react well together. Not to mention the legality of not using the proper pump.
Don't know about anyone else but fire scares the he.. outta me!
