Gas leak

I a 2000 30 proline sport center console. I have 2 -150 gallon gas tanks on my 30sport proline. Had the tanks pressure tested and they had no leaks also checked the fill lines and vent all good and I had the sender switches checked for leaks no leaks when I fill them up with gas there is gas leaking to the bilge pump but when I run the boat for about 2 to 3 miles gas leak stops I checked every thing it only leak it out when I fill the boat up my last resort is to change the gas tanks out and I know that's going to be a big job to do it is driving me nuts if the tanks had a leak the gas would keep on leaking till the tanks go dry but it just leaks out for a short time then it stops leaking does anyone have any idea what could be wrong

Does the leak come back after the 2-3 miles run when you dock, and then go out again? If not, then I think I would try to stop just short of full on the refills.

Sounds like everything checks out on the level, but it is throwing the gas rearward when running, just because the tanks are 150's does not mean you have to put 150 gallons in them, I would stop short of a complete fill then test, one of my boats in the past had a 100 gallon tank in it, if I filled it up all the way, I would leak fuel for a while, if I put 95 gallons in it, I never had a problem. You will have to figure out GPH consumed so when you are filling a partial tank you don't overfill.

Next time you fill up, wrap your fill hose with paper towels or toilet paper. They do wear out and I have heard first hand reports where the can leak readily. The paper wrapping can help you identify if they are leaking based on visual and smell.

Thanks for the information i was hoping that was the problem like i said before it just happens when fill it up and it will stop after i run the boat thanks now I no I was filling the tanks

Full or not, you need to find the leak. The fumes will still come out of wherever the leak is, got to the bilge, and any spark can set off the big boom. Don't cover up any fuel leak just by not filling the tank, FIX the leak!

Yes it stops leaking after the I get back to the dock and let it set for a hole day and no leak

I have seen baffles done incorrectly on vents that cause just this type of situation, if this is not a new boat, then there is a possibility that a baffle has been dislodged as well. All tanks, done properly vent fumes, fumes is a part of having gasoline fueled boats.

The secret is finding out where they are allowing those fumes to escape, if they accumulate in the bilge you have a big problem.

Yes that why I am asking for information I want to find the leak but did every thing I could think of I had a certified boat mechanic do the pressure check on the tanks he said every checked out I am still worried about this

I don't know how you can have a leak after a pressure test was negative, actually I do. For how long and at what pressure was the test done? I would keep the pressure test on for 24 hours. I have had many vessels pressure tested and hold however if we could we would pressure test for as long as possible. Sometimes it took 5 minutes before we saw the pressure drop, sometimes 30 minutes and I remember one PT started dropping after 24 hours. Here before we are given the go ahead for Natural Gas applications the test must hold 100 psi of Nitrogen for a 24 hour period. No matter what the test showed you have a leak.

Thanks y'all I am going to have to cut a access hole right at the tanks and go that route and see if I can find the leak might be looking for a fiberglass professional to put new tanks in. Any advise were to buy 150 gallon gas tanks
