Hey guys- I am going to install a kicker in my boat and I plan to tap of the extra connection from the fuel/water filter. My question is, will the primer bulb in the kickers's line stop any air/fuel from being sucked from it or should I install a shut off valve?

Thanks
Jon

Re: gas line for kicker

I have run with a straight line hook up off the filter for 20 years w/o any problems. When I re-powered last year, they installed a new Honda/Racor filter w/a manual on/off lever, I never use it with my new 225 Honda and Yamaha T9.9 kicker w/o any problems. I also installed a new fuel tank w/anti siphon valve and it works OK, but I use to be able to plug in an engine male fitting and siphon gas for the lawn motor etc, now I can't do that, just have to use the primer bulb to pump out the gas because it won't flow on its' own.

It works fine, Mines been that way for many years. It is possible for the one way valve in squeeze bulb to fail and let air suck through though. If that happens just pull the fuel line of the kicker. Its never happend to me.

If you want to install a shut off valve it won't hurt.
