gas not getting to cylinders

I tore down my 95 Johnson 90hp j90tleor to hone a scored cylinder and put rings on other pistons. Everything is back together. The compression in all are between 115&120, there is good spark. The fuel pump has a strong pulse of fuel to the carbs but it seems to stop there. The plugs are completely dry when cranking. The carbs are clean. Could the timing be so far off it wont even try to fire? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Oh and at idle does this engine only run on certain cylinders?

Easy one first: It should run on all cylinders----always.

Assuming you have it put together correctly, it would be pretty hard to not draw gas from any of the carburetors. The plugs should not be wet. That would indicate a flooded condition. I suggest you squirt some pre-mix gas in through the carbs and see if it fires. Or hold your hand over the carbs while cranking to see if it shows signs of fuel. Are you sure the chokes are working?

I wasn't aware there were chokes. I was under the impression the primer solenoid took the place of a choke. Should my hand actually have gas on it? There is gas in both bowls. It seems to not go ant further than that. I'm not really sure how the whole fuel system works. Is there a vacuum that draws fuel after the engine is started?

You choke that engine by pushing in on the ignition key when you are cranking the engine. When the key is pushed in, the choke (primer solenoid) pulses fuel into those small hose barbs on the top of the two carbs. The choke works as long as you push in on the key.
